Confidence Isn’t Found, it’s Nurtured
There was a time when I used to question my confidence.
I thought it depended on how others perceived me, their validation, their compliments, their approval. And for a while, I believed that’s what confidence was: being seen as capable.
But I’ve come to understand something deeper.
Confidence that depends on others is fragile, it disappears the moment external validation fades. Real confidence begins when we stop seeking it from the outside and start nurturing it from within.
Today, I don’t chase confidence. I build it, one action, one promise, one moment at a time.
Here are 3 ways I’ve learned to nurture it:
Keep small promises to yourself: Each time you follow through, even on the tiniest goal, your self-trust grows. Confidence is the quiet voice that says, I can rely on myself.
Act before you feel ready: Waiting for confidence before taking action is like waiting for the ocean to calm before learning to swim. Movement creates momentum. Action builds belief.
Detach from external validation: Confidence rooted in approval is temporary. True confidence grows when you show up authentically, even when no one notices, likes, or applauds.
Confidence isn’t about having it all together, it’s about trusting yourself enough to keep going, especially when it’s uncomfortable.
Confidence grows every time we choose courage over doubt, action over hesitation, and truth over approval.
